My piano lessons are unique and tailored to you. I teach all ages and abilities from beginners to diploma level.

Piano lessons for children

I generally teach children from 6 years old. I occasionally teach younger children but need a trial lesson to ensure that they are ready for formal tuition. All lessons are tailored to your child’s specific needs. All children are taught to play by reading music. Lessons with children are fun and creative.

Piano lessons for Adults

I love teaching adults! I teach adult beginners and returners as well as advanced students focusing on style and interpretation. It’s an old cliché but it really is never too late to learn to play.

Piano grade tuition

I use a variety of examining boards to help individual students get the most out of their lessons.

The majority tend to follow the ABRSM syllabus, the longest standing and arguably most respected examining board.

All exam boards I use have Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) transferable credits which can help when applying for University.

The exam repertoire these days is diverse and exciting!

I teach from preparatory grade through to Grade 8 and Diploma.

Music Theory

Music Theory is an essential part of developing and consolidating the language of music we use when we play. I aim to teach theory alongside practical piano lessons. Passing Grade 5 theory is essential for anyone wanting to progress beyond a Grade 5 practical exam. For this reason I often have students from other instrumental teachers attending theory lessons. Theory can be taught individually or in small groups depending on the number of students.
